Pursuing a PhD in History
My time at Carson-Newman University exposed me to the value of a Liberal Arts education. The faculty in the Religion Department encouraged me to seek answers to the questions I raised and equipped me to continue on the path to teach in higher education. C-N's Oxford Studies Program allowed me to minor in Baptist History, introduced me to archival research, and afforded me the opportunity to spend a term at Regent's Park College, Oxford. It was this experience that confirmed my desire to research and teach courses on the history of religion. The care and compassion of the faculty at C-N serve as a model for the type of professor I plan to be.
