Interdisciplinary Research Areas
As an R1 institution, Baylor offers research opportunities for faculty and students across the STEM, humanities, and social sciences disciplines. Many of these areas address topics that transcend any single department and can be approached from a variety of perspectives and research methods. Health Research in the Social Sciences
Baylor’s reputation for health-related research goes far beyond the STEM fields and is a particular strength for many of our Social Science programs. Religion
As a Christian research university, the study of religion is one of Baylor’s hallmarks. The institution has strong research agendas involving the study of religion and religious faith across disciplines.
Biomedical Research
Many of our STEM programs are engaged in interdisciplinary research in the biomedical sciences. Ph.D. students have an opportunity to work with an extremely diverse group of faculty who are actively involved in various research trajectories.
Materials Science & Engineering
Baylor is home to an array of faculty and labs that pursue research in Materials Science. Working individually and across the institution, these faculty are on the cutting edge of identifying solutions to challenges facing high-visibility industries.
