Baylor University discloses that the Master of Science (M.S.) program in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders will fulfill state/territory requirements for professional licenses; some state licensing boards require additional requirements beyond academic and clinical requirements, which may include (but are not limited to): additional post-graduation examinations or experience, application and licensing fees, criminal background checks, reference checks, fingerprint submissions, etc. Continuing education may also be required for maintenance of licensure. Make sure you understand and review any additional requirements prior to enrolling in the Online and Residential Master of Science (M.S.) Speech-Language Pathology programs.

State licensing requirements are always subject to change at the discretion of the state licensing board. The University will routinely update this page, but we strongly recommend you inquire with the applicable state board to confirm your eligibility for licensure prior to enrolling in the Online and Residential Master of Science (M.S.) Speech-Language Pathology programs. For any questions regarding licensure, please contact the state/territory agency directly. Please refer to the links for state compliance and requirements for licensure and school certification below.

Licensing requirements vary by state/territory and relocating could impact whether you will meet eligibility requirements for licensure. For any questions about relocation eligibility, contact the agency where you desire licensure before relocating to ensure that you will be eligible for licensure or reciprocity.

If you relocate, you are required to notify the program per the Student Location Change Policy.  Students must do this by updating their address in BearWeb.

Carefully review the academic and clinical prerequisites for your intended state/territory of licensure and whether our program meets those requirements for licensure. Use the agency contact information provided below to clarify or confirm any requirements.

If questions remain after reviewing the information provided below, contact your program director. While the University can provide initial guidance, it is ultimately your responsibility to continually check with the state/territory where you intend to seek licensure to confirm all licensing/certification requirements.

The State Licensing Requirements should indicate if the program curriculum is MET or, NOT MET in these states and US Territories.

*If the program has yet to determine whether the curriculum requirements are met for these states and US Territories, it will be labeled as does not meet until further notice. Please contact your program advisor/director for more information.

School Certifications may also be required to work in the schools in your state. These vary district-by-district and are controlled by the Education Board in each state. The document link below provides students with information that is needed to work in the schools. Please read these carefully! Baylor University's SLP Program academic and clinical opportunities can help you meet your state's specific education board requirements for clinical hours but it is your responsibility to work with your placement team to be sure they know you need them.

Although all education boards have been reviewed by the Baylor CSD Department for program adherence, it is up to each student to review the boards and be knowledgeable for all requirements. Please refer to the detailed list of requirements link at the bottom of this page for additional information on how Baylor Communication Sciences and Disorders supports you in education board certification.

Search Disclosures by State

Although all state licensing and education boards have been reviewed by the Baylor CSD Department for program adherence, it is up to each student to review the boards as well and be knowledgeable of all requirements. Some boards require additional tests, specific clinical clock hours, or unique state specifications. These requirements are noted here but are also privy to change without notice. Baylor SLP program proudly states that it meets the ASHA Standards for CCCs and the CAA requirements as an accredited program in the states listed on this form as “MET”, but additional requirements are noted below.

Detailed and up-to-date information on state compliance and requirements for licensure and school certification may be found here.
