Fellowships & Awards
Fellowships
Fellowship programs offer a pre-determined employment period that provides rich experience in research and/or teaching skills. This can range from a summer program run by Baylor University Libraries to the academic year-long Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship Program.
Special Collections Teaching Fellowships
Each year, the Baylor Libraries offer teaching fellowships to support excellence in teaching and learning and provide opportunities for original research by encouraging the use of rare books, archives, and other special collections materials in Baylor graduate and undergraduate curricula. Fellowships for Summer 2025 are available for full-time Baylor faculty members (including tenured and tenure-track faculty, regular lecturers and senior lecturers) and graduate teaching assistants (teachers of record). Deadline to apply is Monday, February 3, 2025.
Summer Dissertation Fellows
In an effort to support students working to complete their dissertation, the Graduate School offers a select number of Summer Dissertation Fellow positions. A Summer Dissertation Fellow designation provides a reserved spot in the week-long intensive Dissertation Writing Lab with a required commitment to meet with a weekly writing group.
Doctoral Administrative Fellow
Doctoral Administrative Fellows are a select group of doctoral students who play an integral role in the Graduate School. The fellowships allow students to gain administrative experience and a distinct perspective on the university’s operations while serving the Graduate School and their peers.
Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellowship
The Graduate School launched the Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship in 2020-2021 with the support of the Provost’s Office and in collaboration with the College of Arts & Sciences and the Honors College. These 10-month positions include a salary of $46,000, continued access to Graduate School travel funds, additional mentoring and professional development training, and the same health benefits as Baylor faculty for the 10-month duration of the postdoctoral position.
Virginia Sugg Furrow Dissertation Fellowship
The Virginia Sugg Furrow Endowment for Ph.D. candidates supports advanced doctoral students at Baylor University through competitive dissertation fellowships awarded annually by the Graduate School. Ph.D. students will be selected to receive this fellowship in recognition of exceptional academic promise, progress toward dissertation completion, and alignment with the donor’s original vision for supporting Christian scholars.
Awards
The Graduate School bestows a number of academic and teaching awards each year to outstanding graduate students in the humanities, social sciences, and STEM fields. Students are encouraged to apply for these awards, not only as a means to strengthen their CV, but also as a way to recognize their outstanding achievements.
