Michael E. Young, PhD

  • Vice Provost and Dean

Dr. Young is the Vice Provost and Dean of the Graduate School where he provides oversight of the majority of graduate programs across the university.  He is a Professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience.  His research interests have included judgment and decision making, statistical modeling, and comparative psychology.  His research has been supported by NIH, NSF, Department of Defense, Health and Human Services, Air Force Office of Scientific Research, and the Hershey Company.  

Dr. Young began his career as a computer scientist with a specialty in artificial intelligence (BS from U. Of Illinois, MS from U. of Minnesota), worked in industry (Army Corps of Engineers, Procter and Gamble, and Honeywell), and then graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Ph.D. in psychology.  He completed a postdoctoral position at the University of Iowa before starting an academic career and spending time at three different institutions — Southern Illinois, Kansas State, and Baylor — in a variety of academic and administrative roles.  He has been at Baylor since 2025.
